The Story of the Lady Elgin

Thursday, September 26th, 6 p.m.

The Lady Elgin was a side-wheel steamship full of many Irish Democrats from the Third Ward of Milwaukee. It was returning to Milwaukee from Chicago when it sunk in the early hours of September 8th, 1860. Of the 398 people on board, only 96 survived. Paul Timm, an expert on the Lady Elgin wreck, will unfold this tragedy for us and delve into the histories of many of the passengers. Please join us for the informative program.

Tuesday Morning Book Club

“Born a Crime”, by Trevor Noah will be discussed at the afternoon book group on Tuesday, Sept. 17th at 10 a.m. .  This club meets at the library on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. New members are welcome. Copies of the book are available at the library.

Thursday Evening Book Club

 “A Gentleman in Moscow” by Amor Towles will be the topic of the next evening book club on Thursday, September 12th at 6:30 p.m.This club meets at the library on the 2nd Thursday evening of each month.  New members are welcome to join us. Copies of the book are available at the library.
